Chris Loses Weight

Staying on track when you're on holiday

Holidays are definitely a difficult balance for me when it comes to achieving my weight loss goals. On the one hand, I don't want to miss out on the amazing food that some of Europe's best destinations offer, but on the other, I don't want to derail potentially weeks and months of progress.

In the space of a few month's I've visited Prague, Kos, and Norway, and my brother got married in between some of these trips, so it's safe to say I gained quite a bit of weight during this time. I also happen to have stopped my GLP-1s over this period, so there was no stopping me when it came to enjoying some amazing food!

My most recent trip to Norway was a little easier to manage. I stay with family in Norway, so meal times are a bit more regulated. I follow what they eat as well, and in general, Norwegian's are a lot healthier than us Brits!

Most meals involve protein and veg in all kinds of different ways, and Norway offers some of the best quality food around. Outside of my main meal of the day, I focused on tried and tested things that work for me - protein shakes and puddings, latte coffees, and a nice sandwich from local bakeries/delis on the go.

I also made sure to get out and about on foot everyday, whether that was going for a local walk, or exploring everything that Bergen, Norway's Second City and The Gateway to the Fjords, had to offer.

So all in all, I actually managed to lose a bit of weight in Norway! I also didn't feel starved, so there wasn't much of a post-holiday travel day bounce back that sometimes happens with me as well.

Given the damage that Kos caused to my waist line - especially with the Souvlakis and Seafood Spaghettis - I call that a result!

Next time I'm away, which is in Ireland in September, I'll still be on the GLP-1s, which will help to offset part of the overeating temptation, and I'll make sure I make plenty of healthy choices - especially with the breakfast buffet!
