Wegovy - my honest take

This post isn't medical advice, it's my own personal review and experience of taking Wegovy as part of my weight loss journey

As someone who has been trying to lose weight for a long time, the new GLP-1 medications have been invaluable in my journey. At first, I thought they weren't for me, that they were almost cheating, but once I heard of a few friends and colleagues who were taking the jabs, I had enough confidence to give them a try.

At first, I chose Mounjaro. In the UK at least, the word Mounjaro is the equivalent of saying GLP-1 as it became so popular, and Wegovy seemed to be knocked into second place.

I lost a decent bit of weight on Mounjaro, I found it to be incredibly effective in suppressing my appetite and switching off the food noise. However, in September 2025, the price of Mounjaro skyrocketed, in some cases by 170% and I decided to stop taking it.

That turned out to be a big mistake. Over a few months, the weight started to creep back on, and especially after a few holidays, I needed to take some action and have a bit of a reset.

So, I took a look at Wegovy, which was incredibly cheap compared to Mounjaro. My first order was just £79, and although I wasn't sure how effective it would be compared to Mounjaro, I did find it to be very effective.

The suppression isn't as strong on Wegovy, but I don't mind that this time round. I'm actively trying to eat a decent number of calories on this journey, so that when I do eventually stop taking this medication, I've learned how to eat a balance 2000 daily calories to not only sustain my weight loss, but to know what to eat, and when.

For me, Wegovy is one of many tools that I use to aid my weight loss journey. The others include calorie counting, the gym, my weight tracking app, and others.

Wegovy, Mounjaro and GLP-1s aren't for everyone, but for me, they help me to lost weight, feel healthier and more confident, and overall, live a better life.
